Using doxxed Grindr profiles from individuals who sent unsolicited photos, I collaborated with a locally-stored language model not only to identify the phalluses, but also to generate expansive texts speculating on the personal lives of their owners. Drawing on visual context from the original images, the model’s image-recognition software functioned as a form of assumptive research. These fictional, text-based descriptions were then used to generate speculative images—false profile portraits that summon a digitized spectre from beyond the screen.
